Of all the wedding day planning, the bridal shower may be the most fun for anyone who isn’t the bride or groom. It is a great chance to throw a happy celebration with cute decor and fun games all united by a theme. Here are 4 themes to consider this fall, if you find yourself hosting a bridal shower.
Few things are as nice on a cool fall day as a warm mug of coffee, and coffee is equally nice as a fall bridal shower theme. Opt for invitation wording that plays off of “brewing”, “blending”, and/or “warmth”, and, of course, focus on brown and cream tones in your color palette. Often this plays out as a combination of hearts and mugs: think hearts in the foam on a latte or the steam rising out of a cup. For food and decor, let the flavors of coffee (and it’s cousin chocolate) shine through. You could even have guests do a crafting project to make mugs for the bride and groom, or for themselves as favors.
Harvest is an absolutely perfect theme for any fall party because it is a huge part of the season. Start the party off right with invitations that convey the theme: rustic fall colors and elements such as pumpkins, apples, leaves, barns, or even hay bales and corn husks. Many of these elements can make their way into your decorations too: pumpkins and corn husks on the tables, hay bales for seating, and burlap on the surfaces. For favors, guests could take home their own mini pumpkin or a pumpkin spiced candle or treat.
In the same vein as harvest, the theme for your bridal shower could be the great outdoors. This one can also play on some of the same visual elements in the invitations and decorations, such as the leaf motif and the fall foliage colors, but without the rustic or barnyard twist. If it is warm enough, consider actually having this shindig outside, like a fun, fall barbecue. Don’t forget a fire pit or campfire, and of course, the s’mores to go along with it.
Halloween is always a combination of spooky and fun. It is a great party excuse but as a bridal shower theme, it will only be great if the bride and groom are into it. Make sure the invitations play up the classic orange and black color combo of Halloween. Decorate with jack-o-lanterns including pumpkins carved with the wedding details. Whip up some creepy treats and put cocktails in a cauldron with some dry ice, then play spooky music.
